Strawberry Chardonnay Trifle

As the finale for a special dinner for two or to serve an entire dinner party, this special treat is perfect.  Take the Vanilla Chardonnay Cake Mix to new heights with fresh strawberries and an artful presentation. 

Strawberry Chardonnay Trifle



1 Vanilla Chardonnay Pack of Cake Mix 
2 Pounds Fresh Strawberries 
1 Cup Chardonnay 
½ Cup Sugar 
1 ½ Cup Heavy Cream 
½ Cup Powdered Sugar 
1 tsp Vanilla Extract 


Prepare cake mix according to package instructions.  It takes about 25 minutes to bake the cake in a 9x13 pan at 350 degrees.  Cook times may vary due to oven.  Cake will bake flatter than most cake mix recipes.  

While cake is baking combine cup of wine and sugar.  Trim and slice 1 pound of strawberries and place into wine mixture.  Let strawberries merry until cake is baked.  This can be done in advanced and stored in the refrigerator overnight. 

Place a metal bowl in the freezer along with whisk or beater of an electric mixer for 10-15 minutes.  Remove bowl from freezer and add cold heavy cream.  Whisk or beat with mixer until cream has reached soft peaks.  Add powdered sugar and vanilla.  Whipped cream should stand up on whisk or beater without sliding off.  Don’t go too far or you’ll make butter!  

Remove cake from oven and let cool completely.  Once cake has cooled, cut into cubes. 

Layer ingredients into a trifle bowl or martini glass starting with cake cubes.  The next layer should be strawberries.  Be sure to spoon in a bit of marinating liquid.  Then layer with fresh whipped cream.  Continue layers until you’ve reached the top of the bowl, ending with a layer of fresh whipped cream.  Garnish with remaining whole strawberries. 

Chill in refrigerator until ready to eat. Enjoy!
